Go Daddy, the web hosting and domain name registrar with operations in Hiawatha, is reported to be in talks to be acquired by private equity firms.
KKR & Co. and Silver Lake Partners are in talks to acquire Go Daddy for more than $2 billion, according to a report from Bloomberg Friday. Bloomberg cited an anonymous source with knowledge of the discussions.
If the sale report proves true, one big question will be the future role of founder Bob Parsons, formerly of Cedar Rapids. Parsons has been the edgy and brash face of Go Daddy. He has often courted controversy with the company's Super Bowl ads, which have often been rejected by networks, and more recently with his big game hunting exploits.
