City High students to build Sand in the City sculpture

IOWA CITY - City High's Interact Club, a volunteer and service group at the school, will spearhead the construction of a Wizard of Oz sculpture for Sand in the City on Friday, Aug. 12, in downtown Iowa City.
About 30 students and three teachers plan to work in three hour shifts from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. to build the structure.
Architect Kari Uhlenkamp provided architectural design support and Dr. Karen Maves of Allergy and Asthma Associates provided financial support for the project.
