Hawkeye Bass Club Tournament results

LAKE SUGEMA -- A perfect day, light breeze, partly cloudy, water temperature was 67 degrees, in most places.

This lake is full of stumps and they are just under the surface, which makes it a challenge just to keep moving around without knocking your partner into the water.

 This lake has a split size limit; you can only keep fish under 12 inches and over 18 inches.

In our tournament, held on May 21, we catch all sizes but can only measure, record and release fish over 15 inches in length.

Only fish over 18 inches can be brought to the scales for the big fish weigh in.

 Each pair of anglers was allowed to weigh in 5 fish measuring at least 15 inches in length.

 Several fish were caught and the 16 anglers sorted out and measured 36 fish averaging just about 3 lbs each. The larger fish all measured 19 to 21 inches.

 Scott Clemons caught the biggest fish weighing 4.63 lb.

 Richard Bollinger caught the second biggest at 4.38 lb.

 The team of Scott Clemons and Ben Peiffer won the event with a limit of 5 fish weighing 16.12 lb.

 Second place went to John Erickson and Kalvin Villhauer with a limit of 5 fish weighing 15.50 lb.

 Third place finishers were Dave Schlick and Chris Yeager also with a limit of 5 fish weighing 13.50 lb.

  They would tell you what was the secret bait but they all used different lures. They used everything from sinkos, spinner baits, jigs and crank baits; and caught fish all over the lake..
