Breeding Bird Atlas trip

Saturday morning the Iowa City Bird Club had a BBA field trip to the southeast part of Hawkeye Wildlife Area. Interesting birds included:
1 Osprey
5 Yellow-billed Cuckoos
5 Willow Flycatchers
1 Sedge Wren
5 Lark Sparrows
3 Grasshopper Sparrows
1 Orchard Oriole
6 Eurasian Tree Sparrows [ a pair entered a nest hole in a dead tree]
We were able to confirm nesting for Tree Swallow (nest), Black-capped Chickadee (nest in a tiny cavity in the top of a fence post), Eastern Bluebird (nest), and Baltimore Oriole (carrying nesting material).
