Iowa City Bird Club BBA Trip to NE Johnson Co, 25 June

Saturday's Iowa City Bird Club Breeding Bird Atlas trip was to 523, Cedar River, in northeast Johnson county. Three birders spent several hours of driving and roadside walking within the block. They found 56 species, confirmed nesting of Common Yellowthroat and Great Crested Flycatcher. Other good species were observed: Yellow-billed Cuckoo, Belted Kingfisher, Red-headed Woodpecker, Willow Flycatcher, Yellow-throated Vireo, Blue-gray Gnatcatcher, Grasshopper Sparrow, Bobolink, and Orchard Oriole.
