CEDAR RAPIDS – After the turkey is eaten, the football is watched, and the shopping is finished, it's time for another great holiday tradition – the Thanksgiving Candlelight Tour at Ushers Ferry Historic Village, 5925 Seminole Valley Tr. NE, on November 25 and 26 from 3:00-8:00 p.m.
Cedar Rapids Parks & Recreation invites families to Ushers Ferry to experience the warmth and joy of a small town Iowa Thanksgiving celebration from 1901.
This heartwarming candlelight tour is an ideal way to spend the evening making new memories with out-of-town family and friends. Taste traditional holiday foods cooked on the old-fashioned cook stove and take home a historic recipe. Visit the Town Hall and learn a reel or schottische. Make Victorian crafts, play parlor games, and take part in the grand opening of the Henry A. Usher House. Beautiful live music by the mother and daughters trio Jewel will be performed in the Church. A holiday tea by the fireplace in the Hotel and face painting by Funny Face Designs are also available for an additional fee.
Daily admission for the event is $8 for adults and $4 for children ages 3-14. Admission is free for children age 2 and under. The tea room and face painting are separate fees. Advance registration is available, but not required. Call Cedar Rapids Parks & Recreation at (319) 286-5731 or go to
www.crrec.org to register.
