Annual Bike to Work Week is May 14-18.Bike to Work Week marks a chance for everyone to consider alternatives to their daily commute and contribute to a greener Cedar Rapids. To support residents during this week, the Cedar Rapids Transit Division is providing free bus rides for anyone using the bike racks on city buses. For those residents that have a long commute or worry about the ride home, the bus bike racks offer an easy way to get around. Each bus can accommodate two bikes at a time. Bikes are not allowed inside the bus.
Bicycle loading and unloading is fast and easy. Riders should get the bus driver's attention before loading their bike on to the rack located at the front of the bus.If the bike rack is empty, load the bike in the slot closest to the bus to allow room for another bike.Riders should secure their bike by raising the support arm up and over the front tire to secure the bike. The bus driver is able to help if the rider has trouble operating the bike rack.
