BELLE PLAINE – Authorities said a Belle Plaine man will be OK after he was shot while hunting raccoons Tuesday.
Christopher M. Pippert, 41, was in an abandoned farm house with two other hunters northwest of Belle Plaine when he was shot in the left ankle. According to the Department of Natural Resources, one of the other hunters accidentally shot him with a 0.22-caliber pistol.
It was the final day of raccoon-hunting season in Iowa.
Pippert was transported to St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids and was treated for the non-life threatening injury, officials said.
