Prestigious win for Hawkeyes golfer Steven Ihm

Steven Ihm, a senior-to-be on the University of Iowa men's golf team, claimed a prestigious triumph Sunday when he won the 60th-annual Sunnehanna Amateur Tournament for Champions in Johnstown, Pa.
Ihm shot a final-round 67 for a 72-hole total of 8-under-par 272.
Past winners of the Sunnehanna include U.S. Open champions Webb Simpson and Lucas Glover. PGA Tour star Rickie Fowler won the event twice. Two-time Masters champion Ben Crenshaw won the Sunnehanna 40 years ago.
Ihm won by two shots over the University of Alabama's Cory Whitsett. No one else came closer than five shots of the leader.
The Dubuque Wahlert graduate from Peosta was the Hawkeyes' top player in 2013. He was the Big Ten's Player of the Week in late April, and was the first Iowa player sine 1970 to be the medailst at back-to-back stroke-play tourneys .
Ihm will play in next month's PGA Tour John Deere Classic on a sponsor's exemption.
