Ogden column: Tell us about it
JR Ogden

Are you one of those golfers who likes an adventure, isn't afraid of a trip to check out the best courses in Iowa or the Midwest?
Tell us about it.
Are you a cyclists who can't wait to get rolling in RAGBRAI or someone who rides their bike to work every day?
Tell us about it.
Are you a dirt track (or asphalt) race car driver who likes to tell stories about last night's race and getting the car ready for another trip around the track next week?
Tell us about it.
Get the drift?
As we get deeper and deeper into summer, it's time to find out what you are doing and what you want to read about.
And who better to tell those stories than you.
Today marks another milestone in our quest for community content. This our 30th “Your Page” and it has lived up to its name.
We started this project in December and have been picking up steam each week. We offer running tips, golf tips and nutrition/fitness ideas on a regular basis. We've featured outdoor activities, like bird-watching and hiking, and we've had stories about the roller derby and rugby.
Today, we feature RAGBRAI, which will make its 40th trip across the state later this month, including a stop in Cedar Rapids. We've lined up a few community contributors to send us daily updates, but would like even more.
Tell us how the ride went each day, what the weather was like and if you are looking forward to - or dreading - the next day. You can email your stories to me and we will round them up at www.thegazette.com and feature a few daily in the newspaper.
We'd also like to hear from those involved in auto racing, swimming, softball or golf. Tell us about your favorite tracks or golf courses, your favorite hole on a particular course. Tell us about your hole in one who had or witnessed. Twins Pines celebrated its 50th birthday last week. Did you play there on opening day? Tell us how the course has changed.
We all know good story tellers and everybody has a story to tell - some more than one. Share it with our community, the more than 160,000 people who read this paper every day.
If you are putting on a road race, a golf or softball tournament and want it promoted, we can help with that, too. We've had many community contributors on our Sports Desk at www.thegazette.com and www.kcrg.com.
The opportunities are endless and we welcome any idea you have.
Enjoy your summer - and tell us about it.
Are you a golfer? Tell us about your favorite course or your favorite hole. Did you play at Twin Pines 50 years ago when it opened? Tell us about it. (David Scrivner/The Gazette) News)
