Zach Johnson switches equipment companies

Jan. 4, 2016 11:47 am
Zach Johnson has changed the golf clubs he'll use on the 2016 PGA Tour.
Johnson had spent his entire 12-year Tour career using Titleist equipment, but has signed a contract with PXG (Parsons Xtreme Golf), owned by GoDaddy founder Bob Parsons.
'My entire team, from caddie to coach, was part of the discernment process,' Johnson said in a news release. 'We all agree that PXG is undeniably the best equipment to help me achieve my goals on the course.'
Cedar Rapids' native Johnson has won 12 PGA Tour titles including the 2015 British Open. He is ranked 13th in the World Golf Rankings.
Ryan Moore started using PXG equipment on the Tour last year. In addition to Moore and Johnson, among pros the company has signed are Billy Horschel, Chris Kirk and Charles Howell III of the PGA Tour and Cristie Kerr of the LPGA Tour.
Johnson will play in this week's PGA Tour Hyundai Tournament of Champions in Kapalua, Maui, featuring 32 winners of Tour events in the 2015 season. He won the event in 2014.
