Sarah Nacos, Demons on top after Day 1

Washington (Iowa) holds a 10-stroke lead after the first round of the Class 4A girls' state golf tournament at Coldwater Golf Links in Ames.
Demons sophomore Sarah Nacos, the defending state champion, leads the pack after a 78. Cedar Rapids Xavier's Amy Olberding is third at 82.
Monticello sophomore Lauren Rise is tied for third in the Class 3A meet, also at Coldwater.
Kennedy senior Sierra Hargens is tied for eighth in 5A at Lake Panorama and the Cougars are in sixth place. Iowa City West is seventh.
South Winneshiek is fourth in the 2A meet at Jester Park.
CITY HIGH'S HORA HONORED BY IGHSAU
Iowa City High Coach Jerry Hora is the 2016 golf recipient of the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union's Golden Plaque of Distinction Award.
The award honors the Iowa coach who has demonstrated a successful career while making notable contributions toward their school, community and coaching profession.
Hora has coached golf for the past 33 years. Since 2000, he has been involved with the golf programs at City High.
