West Delaware sophomore Clayton Larsen had to settle for a runner-up finish in the Class 3A boys' state golf tournament - as an individual.
But his two-day total of 144 helped the Hawks capture the team title at Ames Golf & Country Club by 12 strokes over Creston/Orient-Macksburg.
Larsen finished one stroke behind Centerville junior Alex Moorman in the medalist race, 143-144. Teammate Harrison Guetzko, a junior, also finished in the Top 10, shooting a 153 to tie for eighth and sophomore Bryce Frick placed 12th at 158.
Decorah's Sam Sacquitne finished sixth at 150.
East Buchanan freshman Chris Cooksley won the Class 1A title at American Legion Golf Course in Marshalltown, firing a 72 on Saturday to finish at 147 and beating Alta-Aurelia's Josh McCormick in a one-hole playoff. He is the second freshman to win a state title.
Algona Garrigan won the team title at 623. The Bucs finished fourth at 645, two shots out of second.
Mount Vernon sophomore Connor Hermann finished third in the Class 2A meet at Spring Valley Golf Course in Livermore, helping the Mustangs to a third-place finish in the team race. Trevor Ullestad of South Hamilton was medalist at 144. Hermann shot at 151.
South Hamilton won the team title at 621, followed by Fort Dodge St. Edmond at 638 and Mount Vernon at 643.
