Junge will golf at UNI

Cedar Rapids Xavier announced Saints senior Matt Junge will continue his career at the University of Northern Iowa.

Xavier Athletics Director Mike Winker issued an email Friday that Junge has signed his National Letter of Intent.Junge was Mississippi Valley Conference Valley Division Athlete of the Year last fall, earning first-team all-MVC honors three times. He received second-team all-state honors twice from the Iowa High School Golf Coaches Association.

Junge competed in the Class 4A state meet the last two seasons, placing 10th as a junior.He will be joined by fellow Saint Maddie Bertsch, who will golf for the Panthers as well. Cedar Rapids Washington's M.J. Kamin will golf at Iowa State next season. Bertsch and Kamin are in the middle of their final prep seasons. Kamin placed sixth at the Class 5A state meet last year, while Bertsch was seventh in Class 4A.
