Officials investigate Cedar Rapids apartment fire

CEDAR RAPIDS - All residents escaped after a fire broke out at an apartment in Cedar Rapids early Thursday morning.
Firefighters responded to Shamrock Apartments, 5160 16th Ave. SW, shortly before 4 a.m. Initial reports indicated a person was trapped.
When they arrived on scene, crews said they found heavy fire from the second story and the roof of the two-story multifamily building.
Firefighters controlled the fire and were able to account for all residents. No medical treatment was required.
Fire officials said several residential units had extensive damage.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
