REPLAY: Live chat on Cedar Rapids city manager hiring process

Members of the Cedar Rapids City Council will participate in a live chat at 11 a.m. today about the selection of Jeff Pomeranz as Cedar Rapids' new city manager.
Pomeranz, 52, currently serves as the city manager in West Des Moines. Cedar Rapids council members will consider a motion to hire Pomeranz at a June 22 meeting. Pomeranz would start in September.
Pomeranz has also served as city manager in Port Angeles, Wash., for eight years and as the city manager of Del Rio, Texas for five years. He was appointed by Iowa Governor Chet Culver to lead the I-Jobs Board two years ago. He is a board member for the Iowa City Management Association and the Iowa League of Cities. He earned his undergraduate degree in political science from the Rochester Institute of Technology in 1980 and a master's degree from the University of Alabama in 1982.
