Iowa City Council votes in support of 21+ bar ordinance during second reading

The City Council voted 6-1 Monday night in support of the second reading of a 21-and-older bar ordinance.
The third and final vote is scheduled for April 6. If approved, as is expected, the minimum age to be in an Iowa City bar at night will increase from 19 to 21.
Opponents of the measure have promised to petition for a referendum so voters can decide the matter themselves.
