Maroon 5, Kelly Clarkson to headline newbo evolve festival in Cedar Rapids

Grammy Award-winning artists Maroon 5 and Kelly Clarkson will headline a new festival, newbo evolve, which will be presented by GO Cedar Rapids August 3-5.
A media release from the tourism bureau describes newbo evolve as a 'multifaceted celebration of the Bohemian creative spirit.” It is inspired by national events such as SXSW, Burning Man and TED talks.
The festival will feature music, fashion and design, technology, culinary arts and more.
Maroon 5 have sold more than 17 million albums and solidified their place in pop music with hits including 'Misery,” 'Moves like Jagger” and 'Sugar.” They will headline on Saturday, August 4. Kelly Clarkson, who first rose to fame on 'American Idol,” has had more than 100 No. 1 Billboard singles. She will headline on Friday, August 3.
Other notable speakers will include Alex Ohanain, founder of Reddit; John Waters, screenwriter, film director and author, Christian Siriano, a fashion designer of ‘Project Runway' fame, and Clint Harp, a carpenter and woodworker featured on HGTV's ‘Fixer Upper.'
The festival also will feature the 'Cedar Screamer” - a 10-story high zip line that will travel more than 1,000 feet across the Cedar River.
Three-day passes will be available for $375 at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 2, at newboevolve.com and through Ticketmaster. Stay tuned to The Gazette for more on this story as it develops.
