CEDAR RAPIDS - Former Vice President Joe Biden, the latest Democrat to announce a run for president, is scheduled to hold rallies in Iowa next week including ones in Cedar Rapids and Iowa City.
Biden, 76, announced Thursday he's launching his third attempt for the presidency. The last time he ran in Iowa, in the 2008 Democratic caucuses, he came in fifth well behind Barack Obama. But this time, in the first 24 hours since announcing, his campaigned hauled in $6.3 million in donations - outpacing all his other Democratic rivals.
His campaign Friday announced three upcoming Eastern Iowa events:
' 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Veterans Memorial Building, 50 Second Ave. Bridge in Cedar Rapids.
' 5:45 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Grand River Center, 500 Bell St. in Dubuque.
' 12:15 to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Big Grove Brewery & Taproom, 1225 S. Gilbert St. in Iowa City.
