UNI pair earn preseason All-America football honors

University of Northern Iowa defensive lineman Ben Boothby and running back/return specialist Carlos Anderson have been named to Phil Steele's 2011 Preseason FCS All-America Team.

Boothby is a second-team choice, Andersno a third-team pick.

Phil Steele's College Football Preview magazine also released its preseason Missouri Valley Football Conference squad, which features 11 Panthers on either the first or second team.

Earning first-team MVFC honors were senior quarterback Tirrell Rennie, Boothby, senior linebacker L.J. Fort, junior defensive back J.J. Swain and Anderson.

UNI will report to preseason camp Aug. 3 with the first practice slated for Aug. 4. The Panthers' season opener is Sept. 3 in Ames, against the Iowa State Cyclones at 6 p.m.
