Big signing day at Metro, Iowa City schools

While major college football dominates National Signing Day on Wednesday, there were several others who made their college choices official across Cedar Rapids, Marion and Iowa City.
Cedar Rapids Kennedy, for instance, hosted a signing party that included four girls' soccer players — Carly Langhurst, Anna Frerichs, Sydney Hayden and Linden Runels. Langhurst and Frerichs signed with Iowa State, Hayden with Northern Iowa and Runels with Carnegie Mellon,
Other Kennedy signings were Tyler Dralle, football at Coe; Cameron Stump, golf at Simpson; Paige Timmerman, softball at Luther; and Logen Rodriguez, wrestling at Wis.-La Crosse.
Linn-Mar also had four soccer signees — Jeanna Ajram (Chicago State), Claire Larson (Missouri-Kansas City), Jack Ramsey (Drake) and Jordan Webb (Marquette). Jake Sevcik (St. Ambrose) and Max Thrune (Kirkwood) will continue their golf careers, Ryan Wyant will play baseball at Kirkwood, and Daniel Gorsich will play football at Benedictine.
Washington's Matt Ackerman (Coe) and Ross Kennedy (Drake) signed to continue their football careers, as did Xavier's Joe Constant (Iowa Central). Jefferson's Valentino Green, Caleb Borseth and Jalen Woods will play football at Iowa Western, Brock Hunt and Alex Fernandez at Ellsworth.
Marion's Alyssa Thomas (Minnesota-Crookston) and Olivia Frazier (Cincinnati Christian) signed volleyball letters, and Madison Bach will run cross country at Iowa Central.
Iowa City High's Lizzy Ward (Winona State), Maddie DePrenger (UNI) and Delaney Johnson (UNI) all signed soccer letters of intent. Jason Jones (Ellsworth) will continue his football career, Donna Preslicka will cheer for William Penn, and Sarah Overton will walk on the Iowa golf team.
Iowa City West's Claire McDonnell (Winona State), Katie Olson (UNI), Payton Pottratz (Iowa State) and Caitlin Ryan (Wartburg) signed soccer letters. Austin Miller and Spencer Wiskus will play baseball at Kirkwood, J.D. Goodfellow will golf at Kirkwood, and Bryson Adcock (Augustana), Yeshuwa Hicks (Iowa Western) and Malik Eskridge (Iowa Western) will play football.
