Van Meter Inc., CEO Barry Boyer to present annual Mount Mercy MBA Speaker Series

Mount Mercy University will welcome Barry Boyer, president and CEO of Van Meter Inc., as the keynote speaker for the annual MBA Speaker Series on Tuesday, March 13, at 7:00 p.m., in Flaherty Community Room in Basile Hall on the Mount Mercy campus. The event is free to attend and open to the public; seating may be limited.
Boyer has been president and CEO of Van Meter for 19 years, having joined the company in April 1993. Van Meter is an employee-owned electrical wholesale and automation company with headquarters in Cedar Rapids, and 21 locations throughout Iowa and Minnesota. Van Meter was chosen as a 2010 Top Small Company Winning Workplace by Winning Workplace and Inc. Magazine, for successfully engaging employees to deliver results.
Boyer holds a B.S. in economics, business, and political science from Cornell College. A lifelong Cedar Rapids resident, he is an active member of the community, serving as the board chairman of the Cedar Rapids Metro Economic Alliance, and campaign chair of United Way of East Central Iowa. He and his wife, Gilda, have two children. In his spare time, Boyer enjoys spending time with his family, photography, and the outdoors.
The MBA Speaker Series is one of many Happenings on the Hill cultural affairs events that are free and open to the public every year. Other events include plays, lectures, forums, and exhibits. Special series lectures include Race and Gender Speaker Series, Barbara Knapp Endowed Business Lecture Series, and the Presidential Lecture Series.
