Mar. 8, 2012 2:30 pm
IOWA CITY - The Iowa City Community School District will hear from parents about a proposed redistricting plan Thursday night.
The proposed plan would affect Hills, Longfellow, Twain, Wickham and Wood elementary schools as well as North Central and North West junior high schools.
Superintendent Stephen Murley said the redistricting is necessary to address a number of concerns within the district, particularly overcrowding at Wood and North Central.
The proposal at the elementary level would send 106 students from Wood to Longfellow, 104 students from Longfellow to Twain and 69 students from Twain to Hills.
Students at Wickham Elementary would go to Northwest junior high rather than North Central.
The school district will hold a public meeting to discusses the 2013-14 school year redistricting plan tonight at Iowa City high school beginning at 7 p.m.
