Mar. 13, 2015 1:34 am
Coe College has experienced success under 14-year head coach John Oostendorp.
The Kohawks face some tough roads to continue the Kohawks stretch of seven top-10 finishes, including six in the top five, the last eight seasons.
Five Coe wrestlers will compete at the 2015 NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships at the Giant Center in Hershey, Pa. The two-day event begins 11 a.m. (Iowa time) on Friday.
Farai Sewera leads the way for the Kohawks. Sewera (25-2) is the second seed at 165 pounds in his second straight national tournament appearance. He faces Augsburg's Eric Hensel (18-12) in the first round.
Returning All-Americans Ryan Sheldon (184) and 197-pounder Donnie Horner will open against highly-seeded foes. Sheldon (24-12), who placed sixth last season, takes on Messiah's sixth-seeded Ben Swarr (18-1). Horner, who placed fifth last year, is 27-9, and wrestles Delaware Valley's No. 3 seed Aaron Karns (29-3) in the first round.
Coe 125-pounder Jan Rosenberg (20-16) placed third at the regional qualifier and opens against Wisconsin-Platteville's eighth-seeded Cole Ferguson (27-7).
Coe's Ryan Harrington is seeded seventh at 174 with a 17-4 mark. He will wrestle Mason Mergener, of Concordia (Wis.), who is 20-9.
