Cedar Rapids school board members will discuss Superintendent Dave Benson's school closure and boundary change recommendations at Monday's school board meeting.
Benson has recommended that two elementary schools – Monroe and Polk – close at the end of the 2011-12 school year. His recommendations also include making Wilson a 6-8 facility, with the current elementary students transferring to Grant Early Childhood Center, which will become a K-5 elementary school, plus several boundary changes.
Board members will participate in a work study Monday to review Benson's recommendations. The board plans to vote on these recommendations at the March 12 school board meeting.
Board members also will receive a 2012-13 budget update.
Monday's meeting begins at 5 p.m. at the Grant Wood AEA Conference Center, 4401 6th Street SW.
