Coe College students will conduct events every day during the week of Feb. 13 to support V-Day, a global activist movement aimed at ending violence against women and girls. Each day will feature a different activity or educational event to raise awareness and promote collective action against this overwhelming social problem. In 11 years, the V-Day movement has raised over $85 million, helping fund national and international grassroots organizations and programs that work to support their vision.
At Coe, V-Day will be celebrated from Monday, Feb. 13 through Sunday, Feb. 19. The capstone event for the week will be performances of Eve Ensler's “The Vagina Monologues,” presented by a cast of 16 Coe women.
Tickets for “The Vagina Monologues” are available by contacting the Coe Box Office at 319-399-8600, Monday – Friday, 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Tickets are $7 for the general public and $3 for students. The funds raised through ticket and craft sales, and through the silent auction during V-Week, will be donated to Coe's local charity, Waypoint Family Services.
