CORALVILLE — The GEICO gecko apparently is generating growing sales for the auto insurer.
GEICO plans to hire 75 people at the company's Coralville call center, including 20 for sales positions, nearly 50 as service counselors and several for the company's Management Development Program.
GEICO's Coralville office has grown to more than 450 associates since opening its doors in 1997. As its policyholder base grows, the company has continued to expand to meet the needs of its customers.
'GEICO is looking for talented, driven professionals who are interested in building lasting careers, while also investing in the growth of the company and our community,' said Pete Rizzo, GEICO's Coralville director, in a news release.
Entry-level customer service and sales representatives are offered a competitive starting salary, paid training, a comprehensive benefits package, career advancement pathways and continuing education.
In March, GEICO announced that it is hiring more than 300 college graduates for its Management Development Program, one of the company's accelerated leadership programs. Candidates must have a bachelor's degree, preferably in business or a related field with an overall GPA of at least 3.0 from an accredited college or university.
GEICO also is seeking candidates who have exhibited strong leadership skills in the community, at work or on campus.
Chevy Chase, Md.-based GEICO is the second-largest auto insurer in the United States.
