CEDAR RAPIDS - A Cedar Rapids truck equipment company hopes to build a $3.9 million expansion to unify its two existing facilities.
Future Line LLC announced plans Friday for a new 30,000-square-foot building connecting its truck equipment facility on Fourth Street SW and its aluminum manufacturing space on Sixth Street SW.
The new facility would create additional manufacturing space for Future Line and also lay the groundwork for the company to begin a new contract parts manufacturing division, with 14 new jobs, the company said in a news release.
Future Line owner Brett Wilson said the new division will help the company diversify, while unifying the two locations will help shared equipment and skilled labor to be leveraged more efficiently.
The company builds custom steel and aluminum truck equipment for Eastern Iowa customers, including toolboxes, dump bodies and flatbeds, as well as snow and ice control equipment.
City council members and the Iowa Economic Development Authority Board both are scheduled to review financial assistance for Future Line's project at their respective next meetings Tuesday and Friday.
Future Line's new facility is contingent on financial assistance and other government approvals.
The company would expect to complete the project in December.
