NEW HIRES
Northwestern Mutual in Hiawatha has hired Casey Mushrush, previously with ConAgra Mills in Hastings, Minn., and Sarah Specht, previously with Fusionfarm, as financial representatives.
Altorfer Inc., Cedar Rapids, has hired Rick Arms (see photo) as application sales representative for its ag division. Arms was previously with Monsanto.
Anderson Bogert, Cedar Rapids, has hired David Koser (see photo) and Kevin Stunkel (see photo) as staff engineers.
The Grant Wood Area Education Agency in Cedar Rapids has hired Renee Nelson (see photo), formerly with NextEra Energy Duane Arnold, as public relations coordinator.
PROMOTIONS
Ashley Rodemeyer (see photo), previously a personal banker, was promoted to a branch officer at Guaranty Bank in Cedar Rapids.
HR Green's board of directors has promoted Steven Heyer (see photo) to chief executive officer. Heyer has served as interim CEO since June 2013.
Marcy Wymer (see photo), previously lead speech pathologist, was promoted to clinical supervisor of therapies for the speech therapy department at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids.

The Waypoint Services board of directors has elected Stacie Osako (see photo), Van Meter Inc., as board president for fiscal year 2015. KUDOS
Three Corridor vineyards were honored at the Mid-American Wine Competition July 11-13 in Ankeny. Cedar Ridge Vineyards, Swisher, took four gold, five silver and eight bronze medals; Deja Vine Vineyard & Winery, Springville, received two silver and two bronze medals; and Fireside Winery, Marengo, took one silver and two bronze medals. The Cedar Rapids Public Library received honorable mention for excellence in interior design from the International Interior Design Association and American Library Association. The library was designed by OPN Architects in Cedar Rapids.
The Cedar Rapids/Linn County Solid Waste Agency was honored with the Recycling Facility of the Year award from the Iowa Recycling Association. The agency also received special recognition in energy efficiency/renewable energy and environmental education.
Brianna Wright, curator of the African American Museum of Iowa in Cedar Rapids, has received a scholarship to attend the 2014 Iowa Museum Association annual meeting and conference Oct. 12-14 in Cedar Rapids.
The Hawkeye Chapter of the American Society for Training and Development, Cedar Rapids, received a $1,000 Chapter Excellence Award from the national association during the ASTD 2014 International Conference and Exposition in Washington, D.C.
State Sen. Liz Mathis of Robins received the 2014 Friend of Community Action Award from the Iowa Community Action Association.
Whirlpool Corp., with an appliance manufacturing plant in Amana, has been honored with an Environmental Excellence Award in Air Quality by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources. The company was recognized for its implementation of Honeywell's Solstice Liquid Blowing Agent into its insulation used in U.S.-made refrigerators and freezers.

WORKSHOPS AND FORUMS
The Kirkwood Wastewater Conference will be offered at 8 a.m. Monday, July 28, at the Kirkwood Continuing Education Training Center, 101 50th Ave. SW, Cedar Rapids. The conference will feature presentations and discussion on pipe tapping and repair, optimization for flocculation and backwash, tank rehabilitation, odor control systems, lagoon management, and identification and control of filamentous bacteria. The Iowa City Area Chamber of Commerce will host a Coralville Roundtable from noon to 1 p.m. Monday at the Holiday Inn and Conference Center, 1220 First Ave. in Coralville. Roundtables are social lunches over the noon hour.
