An Iowa City woman was hospitalized earlier this month with a blood-alcohol content nearly six times the legal limit to operate a motor vehicle.
According to an Iowa City police criminal complaint, officers were called to 2724 Wayne Avenue at 10:16 p.m. Aug. 12 for a report of a drunk woman pounding on doors at an apartment complex. Arriving officers found 29-year-old Patricia Hunley sitting on the stairs of the apartment complex, arguing with the person who had called police.
Police said as officers approached, Hunley made a move toward the door. Officers made contact with Hunley and noted a strong smell of alcohol and multiple signs of intoxication. A breathalyzer test showed Hunley had a blood-alcohol content of .462 percent. The legal limit to operate a motor vehicle in Iowa is .08 percent.
Hunley was treated at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics prior to being charged with public intoxication, a simple misdemeanor.
