IOWA CITY – Hawkeye football offensive-lineman Josh Koeppel was hit while riding his motorcycle Monday morning in downtown Iowa City.
Sergeant Denise Brotherton of Iowa City Police Department said Koeppel was heading westbound on Burlington Street on his Yahama motorcycle when John Logan, 54, of Iowa City turned left onto Gilbert Street and struck Koeppel. Logan was driving a Ford F-150.
Sergeant Brotherton said Koeppel did not suffer life-threatening injuries and was taken to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics to be evaluated.
Logan was cited for failure to yield upon making a left turn.
Koeppel is listed as a possible starter at center for the Hawkeyes this Fall.
No word yet from the Hawkeye football team about how this accident may affect his ability to play this Saturday in the season opener against Eastern Illinois.
