Ramone Vasser
RAMONE VASSER
Cedar Rapids
Ramone Vasser was born June 25, 1984, to parents Sonya Vasser and Larry Rice. Ramone attended Cedar Rapids Washington and Prairie High School and graduated with his diploma.Ramone was an amazing son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend.
His heart was golden, heavy and full of love. From birth, his big smile stole hearts. As he grew, he adapted the name Big Baby. Big in stature, but boy was he a mama's boy! He loved his mother, his sisters, his nieces and everyone around him. He did everything he could to protect them. He was a protector for all. Even in his school years, Ramone played football and was the man to protect his team. He called himself King Kong. Mighty and strong, but still gentle and loving. He used to huff and puff, blowing his chest big, beating it like a drum, that is when you knew he was ready for battle.
Ramone battled many health issues. He lost part of his leg and it still never prevented him from standing tall. He had a creative mind. Always looking for ways to get rich or die trying. Whether he wanted to dig for gold in the mountains or be the chef as a vendor for a big event. He was always looking for ways to be a provider to those he loved.
Ramone departed from this life on March 19, 2021. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 8, at Lifeline Ministries Church, Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Ramone was preceded in death by his grandmother, Georgia Vasser; stepfather, Kennard McPike; and cousin, Martez Ceaser.
Mourning the loss, yet rejoicing his life, he is survived by his parents, Sonya Vasser and Larry Rice; father figure, Jeffery Senter; his siblings, Keya Vasser of Atlanta, Ga., Mercedes McPike of Jacksonville, Fla., Takayla Thomas, Michael Rice and LaTanay Fields of Chicago; maternal grandparent, Edwin Vasser; grandmother, Inez McPike; aunt, Stephanie Vasser of St. Louis, Mo.; uncles, Kenny Vasser of Cedar Falls, Iowa, Andre Vasser of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Raymond Vasser of Hiawatha, Iowa, Chavon Vasser of Sacramento, Calif., Kyle, Paulie, Darryll and Derek Blakley of Chicago, Brian Blakley of Denver, Colo., Morriel Smith of Chicago; and nieces, nephews and a host of cousins and friends.
