Cornell College's Alex Coolidge, an NCAA Division III runner-up last season, is ranked first in the NWCA D-III individual rankings that were released last week. He is No. 1 at a weight that includes four from Iowa colleges.
Luther has the largest reputation of area schools. Five Norse wrestlers are in the top-10 of their weight classes. All-American Evan Obert is fourth at 133. Former Cedar Rapids Jefferson state champion Conner Herman is sixth at heavyweight. Former South Winn prep Jayden DeVilbiss is fifth at 184. Garret Bonte (165) is ranked fifth and Nick Perch (197) is seventh.
Coe has four ranked wrestlers. Jimmy Gotto, a national finalist at 125 last year, is third at 133 to lead the Kohawks. Teammate Dmitry Boyer is fifth at 157. Ethan Ball (174) and Donnie Horner (197) are eighth and ninth, respectively.
The Rams' Trevor Engle is also ranked, holding the 10th spot at 149.
Loras has three ranked wrestlers, including former Western Dubuque prep Nick Steger, who is 10th at 141.
Wartburg has seven ranked wrestlers, including fourth-ranked heavyweight Ryan Fank, who is a former Independence prep. The Knights also sit atop the team poll, edging rival Augsburg (Minn.) by a few points in the tournament index.
Luther is fourth as a team and Coe is eighth. Other ranked Iowa teams include Loras (24th) and Cornell (28th).
