Brooks collects another weekly honor

Sammy Brooks made an impression and received another honor with his first win of the season.
The University of Iowa junior was named Big Ten Wrestler of the Week on Tuesday. The 184-pounder recorded a 17-2 technical fall over Jordan Rogers, helping the Hawkeyes beat Oklahoma State, 18-16, on Saturday during Grapple on the Gridiron at Kinnick Stadium in Iowa City
Brooks scored four takedowns and eight nearfall points, ending the bout via match termination with 51 seconds left in the second period.
This marks the first time Brooks has earned the conference award. Brooks was also named USA Wrestling's Athlete of the Week for his opening performance.

Brooks earns second award in as many days for 'Grapple” performance
IOWA CITY, Iowa - University of Iowa junior Sammy Brooks has been named Big Ten Wrestler of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday.
It's the second award in as many days for Brooks. On Monday, he was named USA Wrestling Athlete of the Week.
Brooks is being recognized for his performance at the 'Grapple on the Gridiron” on Nov. 14. The Oak Park, Illinois, native used four takedowns and eight nearfall points to earn a 17-2 technical fall over Oklahoma State's Jordan Rogers and spur the Hawkeyes past the top-ranked Cowboys, 18-16.
Brooks' bonus points at 184 pounds gave Iowa a 15-13 lead and proved to be the difference in the dual.
The weekly conference honor is the first of Brooks' career, and the first for the Hawkeyes this season.
