CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- Basketball and soccer standout Alexandria Pircer from NU High School in Cedar Falls will join the women's basketball and soccer programs at Mount Mercy this fall.
Pircer, a 5'-11" forward, is NU High's all-time leader in blocked shots with 77. She started 22 of 23 games last season, leading the Panthers in rebounding (8.2 rpg) and blocks (27) while averaging 9.5 points per contest. As a junior, Pircer started all 23 games while averaging 7.4 points and 6.2 boards per outing with 14 blocked shots.
"Alex is a strong, hard-working player," said Mount Mercy Head Women's Basketball Coach Aaron Jennings. "She has a nose for the ball and is an excellent rebounder. Alex will be a great addition to our team on the court and in the classroom."
Pircer tallied 583 saves in goal for NU High over the last three seasons. She had her best season as a junior, recording a career-high 214 saves (12 spg) as the Panthers went 11-7 last spring. Pircer had 163 saves as a freshman on a team that was 9-4, then saves 206 shots on goal as the Panthers went 10-7-2 in 2009.
