Luther’s Norton is honorary football captain (photos)

Sep. 11, 2011 3:18 pm
Luther College freshman Chris Norton was the honorary captain for Luther's football game Saturday afternoon against William Penn at Carlson Stadium in Decorah.
Norton fractured his neck and suffered a compressed spinal cord while making a special team's tackle in a game last October. Originally given a three-percent chance of ever gaining movement below his neck, Norton has continued to progress remarkably.
Here are three photos from Saturday provided by Luther Sports Information Director Chris Norton. The first is Chris leading Luther's team onto the field pregame, the second of the pregame coin toss and the third of players standing (including Norton) for the national anthem.
