Cornell College will hold a recognition ceremony as part of the 9/11 remembrance prior to Saturday's 1 p.m. football game between the Rams and Macalester at Ash Park Stadium.
Cornell's athletic department will pay tribute to members of the military and military veterans, as well as local police, firefighters and ambulance personnel. Before the national anthem, all of these individuals and their families will be honored for their dedication and service to our community, state and nation.
"This tribute is special to my heart," Cornell head football coach Vince Brautigam said. "My dad and family were in World War II, my wife's family was in Korea and Vietnam. I have former players who served in Iraq and Afghanistan, and some who are still there."
The individuals recognized will receive free admission into the game. Free hot dogs will also be served to those honored.
Saturday is Cornell's home football opener. The Rams are coming off a 36-35 win at Olivet (Mich.) last weekend.
