Natalia Olsen had the Warriors on the scoreboard early, giving them a 1-0 lead just five minutes into the contest. Freshman midfielder Megan Konchar's penalty kick in the 36th minute evened the match for the Mustangs.
Mount Mercy attacked the goal in the second half, and after two straight shots hit the crossbar on the same play, junior forward Kandice Kiernan finished it off to give the Mustangs a 2-1 advantage in the 73rd minute. Haakma's score in the 84th minute sent the match into a pair of scoreless extra periods.
Kaylee Vitale saved six shots on goal for the Warriors (2-8-1, 0-1-1 MCC). Sophomore keeper Jerica Christensen stopped a pair of shots in the first half for the Mustangs (3-7-1, 1-1-1 MCC). Freshman Alex Pircer was in goal for the second period and overtime, making five saves to preserve the tie.
On Tuesday, Mount Mercy goes to Davenport for a conference matchup with St. Ambrose at 4:00 p.m.
