Coe up to 14th in AFCA football poll

Oct. 29, 2012 2:24 pm
Coe College has moved to No. 14 in this week's American Football Coaches Association Division III coaches' poll. Here is the poll in its entirety:
WACO, TEX.– The past weekend brought with it plenty of action in the Top 25 Poll, shaking up the rankings and bringing in three new faces in Cortland State (N.Y.), Franklin (Ind.), and Elmhurst (Ill.), at Nos. 23, 24, and 25 respectively. After receiving votes for the past two weeks, Elmhurst makes it onto the AFCA Division III Coaches' Poll for the first time ever with their win against North Park (Ill.), which improved their record to 7-1 on the season.
Elsewhere on the poll, Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) heavy-weights No. 1 Mount Union (Ohio) and new-No. 17 Heidelberg (Ohio) battled it out for control of the conference. Heidelberg broke Mount Union's shutout streak at six games, but the Purple Raiders emerged victorious with a 33-14 win. After losing their first conference game in four years last week, Wisconsin-Whitewater was shocked by Wisconsin-Stevens Point on Saturday, losing 17-14, to be knocked out of the polls for the first time since 2004, effectively knocking the reigning three-time National Champion out of playoff contention.
