Cornell: Flores, Demlow gain weekly grid honors

Cornell junior quarterback Juan Flores and junior linebacker Jeremy Demlow have been named Midwest Conference Football Offensive and Defensive Performers of the Week, respectively, for the period ending Sept. 30.
Flores and Demlow were instrumental in Cornell's 48-8 road win over Beloit Saturday, bumping the team's record to 2-2 overall, 2-1 in the MWC.
Flores orchestrated a Ram offense that gained a season-best 558 yards of total offense. He was 18-of-30 passing for 284 yards and two touchdowns. Flores also rushed nine times for 72 yards (8.0 ypc) and had scoring runs of 5 and 4 yards.
Through four games, Flores has completed 58.0 percent of his passes (91-of-157) for 1,275 yards with eight touchdowns and three interceptions. He ranks second in the MWC in passing yards (318.8 ypg) and total offense (334.0 ypg).
Demlow helped lead a strong defensive effort that limited Beloit to 204 total yards and nine first downs. He ran back an interception 47 yards for a touchdown on the third play of the second half that gave the Rams a 28-0 lead. The pick six was one of four turnovers Cornell collected in the game. Demlow finished with three tackles, including one stop for lost yardage.
Demlow ranks third on the team with 33 total tackles. He has a team-high four tackles for loss, including one sack.
