Tomi Taiwo rounds out Iowa's senior recruiting class

Oct. 30, 2017 1:12 pm
IOWA CITY — The final piece is in place for the University of Iowa women's basketball recruiting class of 2018.
Tomi Taiwo, a 5-foot-10 guard from Carmel, Ind., committed to the Hawkeyes on Sunday.
'There were a lot of factors. Iowa has a great pre-med program and its basketball program is at a high level,' Taiwo told The Gazette on Monday. 'I take both my acedemics and my basketball very seriously, and Iowa has them both checked off.'
Taiwo averaged 14 points per game last season, setting a school record with 65 3-pointers, as Carmel reached the regional finals of the Indiana postseason tournament. She selected the Hawkeyes over Pennsylvania, Brown, Miami (Ohio), Bradley and Ball State.

Her commitment is Iowa's fourth among the senior class. Taiwo joins Monika Czinano (6-3, forward, Watertown, Minn.), Kate Martin (6-0, guard, Evansville, Ind.) and Logan Cook (6-1, forward, Iowa City West).
Also Sunday, Iowa picked up a commitment from junior Gabbie Marshall (Mason, Ohio). Mason City junior Megan Meyer — sister of Iowa sophomore Makenzie Meyer — commited last summer.
