Feb. 16, 2012 4:52 pm
STATE COLLEGE, Pa. - Iowa Coach Fran McCaffery said today point guard Bryce Cartwright won't play tonight against Penn State after the senior injured his ankle at practice last Saturday.
Freshman guard Josh Oglesby will start at guard, and sophomore Devyn Marble will slide over to point guard in Cartwright's place. Oglesby, a 6-foot-5 freshman from Cedar Rapids, gets his first start of his Iowa career.
Cartwright has started 12 games this year, including the last four. He scored 17 points, grabbed seven rebounds and dished five assists against Penn State on Feb. 4. Cartwright leads the team and ranks fourth in the Big Ten in assists with 102 despite missing nearly two complete games with a hamstring injury.
Oglesby averages 6.2 points a game but has 31 3-pointers, second-most on the team.
Junior Eric May continues to suffer from back spasms but he will play, McCaffery said.
