Bradfield leads Rams with 4-0 mark

Cornell junior Justin Bradfield enjoyed a perfect 4-0 day as the Rams opened Iowa Conference dual competition Saturday with a split against Wartburg and Luther in the Small Multi-Sport Center Arena.
The Rams (3-4 overall, 1-1 IIAC) cruised to a convincing 8-1 victory over Wartburg in the opener. Cornell was competitive in a 7-2 setback to perennial power Luther in the day's final dual.
Bradfield played a role in both of Cornell's match wins against Luther (6-1, 2-0 IIAC). He posted a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Aaron Gendron at No. 3 singles. Bradfield teamed with junior Tyler Shonkwiler for an 8-4 triumph at No. 3 doubles.
Cornell went 3-0 in doubles play against Wartburg (3-1, 0-1 IIAC), including a tight 9-7 win from No. 1 team Ashan DeSilva and Orion Wilkinson. Garrett Russikoff and Neal Klauer rolled 8-2 at No. 2, while Bradfield and Shonkwiler were victorious 8-5 at No. 3.
The Rams carried momentum into the singles matches, getting straight-set wins from Russikoff (6-2, 6-3 at No. 2), Bradfield (6-1, 6-3 at No. 3), Joseph Gelfand (6-1, 6-1 at No. 5) and Klauer (6-2, 6-3 at No. 6). Wilkinson earned a 6-2, 3-6, 10-4 victory at No. 4 singles.
Bradfield and Shonkwiler raised their season dual record as doubles partners to 3-1. Wilkinson improved to 5-2 in singles dual play.
