Iowa wrestling to host wrestle-offs this weekend

IOWA CITY — Fans will get their first chance to see University of Iowa wrestlers in competition this weekend.
The Hawkeyes will conduct wrestle-offs open to the public, beginning Thursday and concluding Saturday at the Dan Gable Wrestling Complex in Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
Twenty-one matches are scheduled, starting with three pigtail bouts Thursday at 3:30 p.m. Action resumes Friday at 3:30 p.m. with eight semifinals. The finals are scheduled for Saturday at 10 a.m.
Admission is free.
The Hawkeyes finished 13-2 in duals last season. Iowa was third at the Big Ten Championships and fourth at the NCAA Championships in March. The Hawkeyes return two All-Americans in Brandon Sorensen (149) and 157-pounder Michael Kemerer. Joey Gunther (165), Cash Wilcke (184/197) and heavyweight Sam Stoll also return with NCAA tournament experience.

IOWA CITY, Iowa — University of Iowa wrestling fans are invited to attend the 2017 wrestle-offs this week at the Dan Gable Wrestling Complex inside Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
The three-day intrasquad tournament features 21 matches, starting with three pigtails Thursday at 3:30 p.m. (CT). Eight semifinal matches begin Friday at 3:30 p.m., and the 10 finals matches for each weight class begin Saturday at 10 a.m. (CT). Admission is free.
WHERE TO GO:
To get to the Dan Gable Wrestling Complex, enter Carver-Hawkeye Arena through the North entrance (by the Gable statue). Take the elevator to the second floor. Exit the elevator to your right and hang a left down the long hallway across from the practice gym. The wrestling room is through the double-doors at the end of the hallway.

Season tickets and single-match tickets are on sale now for season ticket holders. Single tickets for the general public go on sale Nov. 1. University of Iowa season ticket holders can also purchase UWW World Cup tickets. Those tickets also go on sale to the general public tomorrow, Nov. 1.
