WILLIAM "BILL" MCGUIRE

William "Bill" McGuire, 86, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Sunday, Dec. 6, 2020. Private family services will be held. Burial will take place at Mount Calvary in Cedar Rapids. All invited guests are respectfully requested to wear a mask and practice social distancing. Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids is assisting the family.
Bill was born Nov. 4, 1934, in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Richard and Edna (Roth) McGuire. He graduated from St. Patrick's High School. Bill served in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1959. He was united in marriage to Dorothy Louise Meaney on July 19, 1958, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. Bill worked for Cryovac for 43½ years. He was an active member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and Teamsters Local 238. Bill loved his pets, helping others and volunteering for his church and neighborhood association.
Survivors include his children, Anne (Ray) Davis of Iowa City, David (Darcy L.) McGuire, Mary (Paul) Swanson and Joan Ledesma, all of Cedar Rapids; seven grandchildren, Jennifer (David), Jamie (Rachel), Kailey (Eric), Kara, Jared (Kodi), Joshua and Jacob; and one great-grandson, Malikai.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dorothy McGuire; and granddaughter, Meagan Swanson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Patrick's Catholic Church or Last Hope Animal Rescue in Bill's honor.
