Aug. 8, 2011 5:20 pm
DES MOINES – State officials on Monday launched a mobile site designed to provide Iowa State Fair attendees with information about daily schedules, entertainment, food vendors, fairground map, attractions and other general information during the fair's 11-day run from Thursday through Aug. 21.
The mobile Iowa State Fair site - developed in partnership between the fair and Iowa Interactive - can be accessed at here (http://mobile.iowastatefair.org/) and is available on mobile devices, including the iPhone, BlackBerry, Android, iPad and other tablet devices. Attendees may also access the site from home with an internet browser by using the same URL.
“I am pleased today to announce the launch of the Iowa State Fair mobile site,” Gov. Terry Branstad said Monday. “This site will allow the more than one million visitors of the state fair the information to enjoy all the fair has to offer.”
The site was developed by Iowa Interactive' s self-funded model. Iowa Interactive also built and manages the official web site for the state of Iowa (Iowa.gov) and partners with state and local entities to bring new government services online. Iowa Interactive is a service of IOWAccess and is managed by the Department of Administrative Services and the eGovernment firm NIC - the nation's leading provider of official government portals, online services, and secure payment processing solutions.
This year's fair theme is “Nothing Compares” to the 2011 Iowa State Fair. For more information, call 1-800-545-FAIR or visit the official
