Branstad supports 'do-over' on Cy-Hawk trophy

Aug. 22, 2011 12:45 pm
Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad said Monday he supports a "do-over" by the Iowa Corngrowers Association, which commissioned a new Cy-Hawk trophy to be given to the winner of the annual Iowa-Iowa State football game.
The new trophy -- unveiled last week at the Iowa State Fair to replace the original Cy-Hawk trophy -- features a farmer kneeling over a bushel of corn with his wife and two kids, and has drawn mostly negative reviews from the public.
“Oh, I think they can do better. I'm sure they're going to take another look at that,” said Branstad when asked his opinion of the new trophy, to be presented to the winner of this year's game Sept. 10 at Jack Trice Stadium in Ames.
