Iowa Family PAC endorses Eichhorn for secretary of state

May. 25, 2010 1:13 pm
The secretary of state is perhaps the most important position in state government after governor, according to Iowa Family PAC President Chuck Hurley. “The Secretary of State is charged with maintaining the integrity of our elections, and the man or woman who holds that office must be someone who is not only competent but who also maintains the highest personal standards.”
The Iowa Family PAC has endorsed former Rep. George Eichhorn for the Republican nomination for Iowa Secretary of State.
Eichhorn faces attorney and Council Bluffs City Councilman Matt Schultz and Des Moines business owner Chris Sanger in the June 8 primary election. The winner will face Democrat incumbent Michael Mauro.
In endorsing the Stratford attorney, Hurley said he has a record of support for pro-family and pro-business legislation.
“The Iowa Family PAC is more concerned about supporting candidates who fear God and will honor Him if elected,” Hurley said. “We have found George Eichhorn to be one of those all too rare statesmen who is able to maintain his integrity and independence even though he has a long history of service in elected office. We believe that is a reflection of a desire to please God that is stronger than any desire to appease the power brokers in the political system.”
The Iowa Family PAC is associated with IFPC Action, a Christian organization dedicated to the promotion of a Biblical worldview and family friendly public policy. As the June 8th primary approaches, the Iowa Family PAC will continue to evaluate candidates who have requested an endorsement.
