New contract brings annual raises, higher weekend pay for UIHC employees
IOWA CITY - Health care professionals at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics will be receiving annual raises and higher weekend pay for the next two years thanks to a new contract.
A media release from Service Employees International Union, Local 199, states that the union's negotiations over the last four months with representatives with the Iowa Board of Regents and UIHC brought the new contract together, which was voted on Wednesday.
The contract received a 98 percent approval, according to the release.
The new contract, which will go into effect July 1 and run through June 30, 2017, includes a 2.75 percent pay increase each year and an additional 50-cent increase on weekend shifts.
