Special Olympics event at University of Iowa seeks more medical professionals
From a Media Release

Physicians, PAs, ARNPs and chiropractors needed
Iowa City , IA – The Special Olympics Iowa MedFest scheduled at the University of Iowa on Saturday, October 1 is seeking 10 more medical professionals to help provide athlete physicals. Current or retired medical professionals are needed between 8:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. at the Recreation Center at the University of Iowa.
“The response from athletes has been tremendous with just over 200 athletes registered” said SOIA President and CEO Mark A. Reed. “We need 10 more medical professionals so we do not have to turn any athletes away. Special Olympics Iowa athletes who do not have physicals completed at this event, will not be able to participate in sports competitions this fall.”
Reed said current or retired physicians, physician's assistants, ARNPs, and chiropractors are needed on Saturday. “If a medical professional is qualified to do an Iowa High School Athletic Association physical, we would welcome them during the day or even for part of the day,” Reed said.
Reed stressed SOIA does not want to turn any athlete away on Saturday, since many of them are coming to Iowa City from across the state for this event. “It's an important day and with the help of 10 additional medical professionals we can guarantee competition for these athletes this year.”
